29. Juli 2021 · TOKYO (AP) — Zhang Yufei had a much busier morning than she was expecting at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. It was worth the effort. She left with a pair of gold medals and a couple of records, too.
The Chinese swimmers dominated the pool in Hangzhou, with Zhang setting six Asian Games records and Qin breaking three breaststroke marks. They were named the best male and female athletes of the 19th Asian Games on Saturday night.
Zhang Yufei of China broke the Olympic record in the women's 200 butterfly with a 2:03.86, the fastest time since 2009. She beat the previous record holder Jiao Liuyang and two Americans Regan Smith and Hali Flickinger on the podium.
