Clytie Jessop (born Clytie Erica Lloyd-Jones; 1929 – 9 April 2017) was a British-based Australian actress, gallerist, painter, screenwriter and film director, notable mainly for her association with cinematographer and film director Freddie Francis.

25. Mai 2017 · Clytie Jessop, actor, painter, gallerist and film director, has died in London of natural causes aged 87. Her diverse life included ownership of a gallery on the Kings Road, Chelsea, frequented by Mick Jagger and others; acting in Gothic Hammer Horror films; and writing and directing Emma's War, which starred Lee Remick.
Clytie Jessop made her film debut as the ghost of Miss Jessel, while starring alongside Deborah Kerr, a 6-time Academy Award nominee. While Jessop’s role was brief, the haunting image of her as the dead governess standing in the bulrushes left a lasting impression on viewers. Her ghostly face is highlighted in the centre of the poster.
