Armi Helena Kuusela (born 20 August 1934) is a Finnish-American charity worker, model and beauty queen. In 1952, she won the Finnish national beauty contest Suomen Neito and was presented with a trip to the United States to participate in the first-ever Miss Universe pageant, becoming its first title-holder.
Armi Helena Kuusela-Williams (o.s. Kuusela, ent. Kuusela-Hilario; s. 20. elokuuta 1934 Muhos) on ensimmäinen Miss Universum -kilpailun voittanut suomalainen. Tavallisen suomalaisen nousu kansainväliseen julkisuuteen aiheutti Suomessa kohun olympiavuonna 1952.

1. Mai 2024 · The first Miss Universe pageant took place in 1952, marking a historic moment. Armi Kuusela, from Finland and crowned winner of the national beauty contest Suomen Neito, was crowned as the first-ever Miss Universe.
At the end of the event, actress Piper Laurie crowned Armi Kuusela of Finland as Miss Universe 1952. [4] [5] It was the first victory of Finland in the history of the pageant. Contestants from 30 countries and territories participated in this year's pageant. The pageant was hosted by Bob Russell.
