Jan. 2017 · Set in pre-World War II era the film opens with a young man called Józef (Jan Nowicki) travelling on a dilapidated train crammed with an odd assortment of people including a blind train conductor (Mieczyslaw Voit). His destination is a sanatorium in the middle of the Polish countryside where he is to visit his dying father Jakub (Tadeusz Kondrat).
The Hourglass Sanatorium is a 1973 Polish film directed by Wojciech Jerzy Has. Set in pre- World War II era. A young man is on a strange train to see his dying father in a sanatorium. But the place is going to ruin and recalls a lot of memories from the past.
Synopsis. A young man named Josef visits a dilapidated Sanatorium to see his father Jakob. On his arrival, a sinister doctor informs him that his father had stopped breathing but hasn’t died yet, perhaps due to Josef’s arrival which may have halted time in the sanatorium.
