In Duniya Na Mane, a young woman, an orphan, Nirmala ( Shanta Apte ), is tricked into marrying an elderly widower (a progressive lawyer) by her aunt and uncle. She goes with him to live in his house.

The basic storyline revolves around a young woman, Nirmala (Shanta Apte) rebelling against her marriage to a much older widower, Kaka saheb (Keshavrao Date), as was the practise in those days. It was also, one of first film to touch upon the issue of widow remarriage.
