Overview. Long Journey Home explores the ethnic diversity of the Appalachian region, the economic forces causing people to migrate into and out of the area, and the choices individuals make to stay, to leave, and to come back.
In one of their last professional appearances together, David and Meredith Baxter Birney star in the made-for-TV The Long Journey Home. David plays a Vietnam MIA, declared legally dead; Meredith plays his wife, who after an eight-year waiting period has decided to marry again.
Synopsis. A Vietnam soldier who vanished in the war shows up mysteriously when his wife is about to remarry. Meredith Baxter and David Birney star, respectively, as a wealthy young heiress and her husband, whose reappearance entangles them in a web of betrayal, murder and international intrigue.
