Kazan is a 1949 American drama western film directed by Will Jason and starring Stephen Dunne, Lois Maxwell and Joe Sawyer. It is based on a novel by James Oliver Curwood which had previously been made into a 1921 silent film of the same title. The film's sets were designed by the art director Paul Palmentola.

The dog Kazan lives in the wild in Canadian nature. In the past he was mistreated by forest runners and because of this he has a great distrust of humans. Thomas Weyman tries to gain the dog's trust. His attempt is hampered by the sadistic Maitlin, who wants to use the dog in illegal dog fights.

Well made adventure film that could be a rough watch for dog lovers. KAZAN centers around a dog vs. wolf fight and some awful human beings creating misery for the beautiful white snow dog.
Lois Maxwell, the future Miss Moneypenny of the "James Bond" movies, plays the daughter of sadistic Maitlin (Roman Bohnen), who with fellow villain Jepson (Joe Sawyer) hopes to groom Kazan for the illegal dogfight circuit.
