When his dog dies, apparently from being poisoned, the young son of the owner of a small orange orchard in California immediately suspects an unfriendly, mysterious stranger who has just moved into the area, who recently had a quarrel with the boy's father.
This unjustly overlooked B-picture calls to mind To Kill a Mockingbird and Night of the Hunter in the way that it details a dark coming-of-age story in which a boy (Billy Gray) believes that a new immigrant in town (Kurt Kaszner) has killed his dog.
