  5. Between studio stints with Dream 6 and his brother Jim’s Concrete Blonde, ex-Sparks guitarist-turned-producer Earle Mankey — who launched his solo career with a nifty 1978 single (“Mau Mau” b/w “Crazy”) and an overlapping 1981 EP — issued the six-song Real World.

  6. MANKEY is the hotshot producer who did the last THREE OCLOCK LP. Yawn…he’s heavily into pop and electronics, so you get quirky songs similar to early SPARKS stuff. One track, “Close Shave in Burma,” has a nice late-’60s English pop single sound, but one track doesn’t make an album.
