Looking back at the many characters who have appeared on the procedural but didn't have as long of a run as the original cast, Alex Blake, portrayed by Jeanne Tripplehorn, was definitely a fan favorite and the most welcomed.
Blake was born in 1951 in Panama and moved to the United States at the age of seven, growing up in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career with Sun Ra's band Arkestra. Blake became one of the major proponents of the fusion movement in the late 1970s through his writing and performances with Lenny White and Billy Cobham.
