Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (* 23. September 1971 in Oppdal) ist ein norwegischer Jazz bassist. Leben und Wirken. Der Sohn eines Organisten wuchs mit sechs musikalischen Geschwistern auf. Er spielte zunächst Klavier und Gitarre und wechselte dann zur Bassgitarre und zum akustischen Bass.

Bio. Photo by Peter Gannushkin. Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (b. 1971) — The award winning Norwegian bassist, improviser, composer and bandleader Ingebrigt Håker Flaten has been at the forefront of modern creative music both in his native country Norway and internationally since the early 1990s.
Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (born 1971 in Oppdal, Norway) is a Norwegian bass player active in the jazz and free jazz genres. He has released one solo album, and two albums with his quintet, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten Quintet. Flaten is also active in a long list of other ensembles, such as Atomic, The Thing, Scorch Trio and Free Fall.
You can imagine the journey of Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, bass player and composer, as an odyssey in a Viking ship of classic ‘knarr’ construction, with its long range, high speed and strong seaworthiness in a storm. His story can also be told purely in music, as he does in the commissioned work (Exit) Knarr.
