Norm Coleman. Norman Bertram Coleman Jr. (born August 17, 1949) is an American politician, attorney, and lobbyist. From 2003 to 2009, he served as a United States Senator for Minnesota. From 1994 to 2002, he was mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota. First elected as a member of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), Coleman became a Republican in 1996.

The 68-year-old Republican discussed his condition Tuesday in a posting on Facebook. The announcement comes about two and a half years after he was diagnosed with throat and neck cancer.
