15. März 2017 · An investigation into sex abuse claims made against the former Speaker of the House of Commons Viscount Tonypandy has ended, police confirm.
He was chairman of the Welsh Parliamentary Party, 1958-59. He opposed the re-introduction of conscription and, as a left-winger within the Labour Party, in 1955 he voted for Aneurin Bevan (rather than Hugh Gaitskell) to become party leader. In 1960 he was the author of The Christian Heritage in Politics.
