  2. Henry Stanbery (February 20, 1803 – June 26, 1881) was an American lawyer from Ohio. He was most notable for his service as Ohio's first attorney general from 1846 to 1851 and the United States Attorney General from 1866 to 1868.

  3. From 1846 to 1851, Stanbery served as the first attorney general of Ohio, returning to private practice in 1853, this time in Cincinnati. For the next thirteen years, he practiced law, suspending his work only when President Andrew Johnson offered him the post of attorney general in 1866.
