Peter Aron van Pels (* 8. November 1926 in Osnabrück; † 10. Mai 1945 im KZ Mauthausen) war ein Opfer des Nationalsozialismus, der im Tagebuch der Anne Frank unter dem Pseudonym Peter van Daan genannt wird.

Peter van Pels. Peter van Pels was 15 years old when he had to go into hiding with his parents. Together with the Frank family, they went into hiding in the Secret Annex. Peter knew Anne before they went into hiding.
On 18 January 1945, Peter van Pels left Auschwitz, sent on one of the many death marches, the forced evacuations, mostly on foot, of prisoners that took place after the evacuation of concentration camps. After five days of walking and three days on the train, he arrived at the Mauthausen camp with 5.714 other prisoners.
Peter van Pels arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau with the other people from the Secret Annex on the night of Tuesday 5 to Wednesday 6 September 1944. Subsequently, the men from this transport, including Peter, went on foot to Auschwitz I, also called Stammlager, located about 3 kilometres from Auschwitz-Birkenau (Auschwitz II). [1]
