  5. Daniel Smith Donelson. Civil War Confederate Major General. A graduate of the US Military Academy in 1825, he was Brigadier General of the Tennessee Militia, 1829 to 1834. From 1841 to 1843 and 1855 to 1861, he was a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives.
