Serath „Skiz“ Fernando, Jr. alias Spectre ist der Gründer, Inhaber und Spiritus Rector des auf Illbient, Trip-Hop und Dub spezialisierten New Yorker Plattenlabels WordSound. Als Musiker, Produzent und Supervisor ist er an vielen Aufnahmen seines Labels direkt oder indirekt beteiligt.
Sarath "Skiz" Fernando (born 1968) is a former music critic, who has written for The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Source, Spin, and Vibe. Later, under the alias Spectre, he became a record producer, rapper, and electronica artist.
Skiz Fernando strikes a singular figure in the music industry. After graduating from Harvard and the Columbia University School of Journalism, he began his career as a music journalist for The Source magazine.
S.H. Fernando Jr., AKA SKIZ is the author of the new book From the Streets of Shaolin: The Wu-Tang Saga. SKIZ spent a good deal of the '90s writing about Wu-Tang for various magazines, so he had a front row seat to the group’s evolution. Next up for SKIZ? A travel memoir about his time spent in the many countries where he’s worked and lived.
