  7. Carlo Odescalchi was born in Rome on March 5, 1786. Ordained to the priesthood in 1808, he preached parish missions. Created cardinal March 10, 1823, he was then appointed Archbishop of Ferrara. He returned to Rome in 1826 and was appointed archpriest of Saint Mary Major in 1832.
