Agostino Gemelli OFM (* 18. Januar 1878 in Mailand als Edoardo Gemelli; † 15. Juli 1959 in Mailand) war ein italienischer Arzt und Psychologe, er gehörte dem Franziskanerorden an und war Gründer der Katholischen Universität vom Heiligen Herzen in Mailand.
Padre Agostino Gemelli, al secolo Edoardo Gemelli, è stato un francescano, medico e psicologo italiano. Appartenente all'ordine francescano dei Frati Minori, è stato il fondatore dell'Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano e dell'istituto secolare dei Missionari della regalità di Cristo e dell'Opera della Regalità.
Agostino Gemelli O.F.M. (18 January 1878 – 15 July 1959) was an Italian Franciscan friar, physician and psychologist, who was also the founder and first Rector of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart) of Milan.
Gemelli, Agostino. (1878–1959), [ HIS, KLI, AO]. Der ital. Psychologe und Arzt Agostino Gemelli wurde als Edoardo Gemelli in Mailand geb. Er studierte Med., leistete Militärdienst und trat 1903 in den Franziskanerorden ein, wodurch er Priester wurde und den Namen Fra Agostino erhielt.
In diesem Beitrag wird die Beteiligung von Agostino Gemelli an der lateinischen Eugenikbewegung diskutiert. Gemelli war ein prominenter Franziskaner, der 1921 die Katholische Herz-Jesu-Universität in Mailand gründete.
22. Feb. 2019 · An important role was played by the Franciscan friar Agostino Gemelli (1878–1959), a physician, renowned psychologist, and founder in 1921 of the Catholic University of Milan. Gemelli promoted relevant psychological research on intellectual disabilities, based on empirical and measurable processes.
The outlook was altered only after a Franciscan priest, Agostino Gemelli, showed that experimental psychology is a separate, autonomous science and per se does not contradict any philosophical or religious principles.
