Hendrik Wade Bode was widely known as one of the most articulate, thoughtful exponents of the philosophy and practice of systems engineering—the science and art of integrating technical components into a coherent system that is optimally adapted to its social function.
He was immediately elected Gordon McKay Professor of Systems Engineering at Harvard University. In his new career, Bode is teaching and directing graduate student research, and conducting a seminar on the planning and conducting of engineering and development programs.
Hendrik Wade Bode's research involved electrical networks theory and the development of electronic fire control devices. His institutional affiliations include Bell Telephone Laboratories and Harvard University.
