Stefan Mazurkiewicz (25 September 1888 – 19 June 1945) was a Polish mathematician who worked in mathematical analysis, topology, and probability. He was a student of Wacław Sierpiński and a member of the Polish Academy of Learning (PAU).

Abstract. Stefan Mazurkiewicz was born in Warsaw in 1888, a son of a well-known barrister. He attended high schools in Warsaw and Cracow. At that time, Poles were deprived of their own state, and the only Polish universities were in Lvov and Cracow, then a part of Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.

28. März 2021 · Stefan Mazurkiewicz was born in Warsaw and studied abroad in Germany and Austria, obtaining a PhD in Lwów in 1913 on the basis of a thesis on curves filling up the square.
