Kazimierz Kuratowski (Polish pronunciation: [kaˈʑimjɛʂ kuraˈtɔfskʲi]; 2 February 1896 – 18 June 1980) was a Polish mathematician and logician. He was one of the leading representatives of the Warsaw School of Mathematics.
Kazimierz Kuratowski worked in the area of topology and set theory. He is best known for his theorem giving a necessary and sufficient condition for a graph to be planar.

Abstract. Kazimierz Kuratowski was born in Warsaw on February 2, 1896, in the family of an eminent lawyer. His father, caring for patriotic education of his children, sent him to a Polish school, although — in then Russian Warsaw — graduation from such a school did not grant any privileges.
