Claude Simon, geboren 1913 in Madagaskar, gilt als Vertreter des "Nouveau Roman". Seinen ersten Roman "Le Tricheur" (Der Betrüger) veröffentlicht Simon 1945. 1961 erhält er für "La Route des Flandres" den Preis der Zeitschrift L'Express, 1967 den Prix Medicis für "Histoire" und 1985 den Nobelpreis für Literatur.

Claude Simon. Biographical. Claude Simon was born in 1913 at Tananarive (Madagascar). His parents were French, his father being a career officer who was killed in the first World War. He grew up with his mother and her family in Perpignan in the middle of the wine district of Roussillon.
