She was the wife of John Harvey Kellogg, a Seventh-day Adventist physician, health promoter, nutritionist, inventor, author, eugenicist, and entrepreneur.
John Harvey Kellogg married Ella Ervilla Eaton of Alfred Center, New York, on February 22, 1879. The couple maintained separate bedrooms and did not have any biological children. However, they were foster parents to 42 children, legally adopting 8 of them, before Ella died in 1920.

Ella Kellogg remained dedicated to her husband and his philosophy for the rest of her life, and she played an integral role in the operations of the sanitarium. She died of colon cancer in 1920. 75
