John Edward Sexton (born September 29, 1942) is an American legal scholar. He is the Benjamin F. Butler Professor of Law at New York University where he teaches at the law school and NYU's undergraduate colleges. [1] [2] Sexton served as the fifteenth president of NYU, from 2002 to 2015.

Respected as a photographer, master printmaker, author, and workshop instructor, he is best known for his luminous, quiet, black and white photographs of the natural environment.
5. Apr. 2020 · Early education. John Sexton took a workshop from Ansel Adams in June 1973 in Fern Springs in Yosemite Valley, CA to learn how to use a view camera. He was a photography student at the time. Adams, along with the works of Edward Weston and Wynn Bullock, became John Sexton’s greatest inspirations. Sexton graduated from Cypress College in 1975.
