Eritrea ( [ ʔeʁiˈtʁeːa ]; Tigrinya ኤርትራ Ertra, Er ə tra oder Ertəra, [8] arabisch إرتريا Iritriyā) ist ein Staat im nordöstlichen Afrika. Er grenzt im Nordwesten an den Sudan, im Süden an Äthiopien, im Südosten an Dschibuti und im Nordosten an das Rote Meer.
