Sept. 2018 · Born on 6 September 1958, Nigel Westlake is the son of Donald Westlake, the much-admired long-time Principal Clarinet of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, famous for his performances and recordings with the orchestra in the 1960s and 1970s. From around the age of 10, Nigel took lessons from his father and became an accomplished clarinettist himself.

Compassion is an orchestral song cycle for voice and orchestra consisting of original melodies and orchestration set to ancient texts in Hebrew and Arabic, all centred around the wisdom of compassion.
