- Nancy Boy. Mit der vierten Single ihres selbstbetitelten Debütalbums aus dem Jahr 1996 gelang Placebo der erste Durchbruch. Nancy Boy schaffte es auf Platz 4 der UK-Charts und passte musikalisch perfekt in die Post-Grunge-Ära, rüttelte ansonsten allerdings die Macho-Kultur der Britpop-Szene ordentlich auf.
- Every You Every Me. Wie auch Bitter Sweet Symphony von The Verve ist Every You Every Me untrennbar mit dem Coming-Of-Age-Kultfilm Eiskalte Engel verbunden.
- 20th Century Boy. Glamrock-Einflüsse waren von Anfang an ein wichtiger Bestandteil von Placebos musikalischer DNA. Zum Soundtrack von Velvet Goldmine, einem Film über die Glamrock-Zeit der frühen 1970er-Jahre, der sich vor allem an der Karriere David Bowies orientierte, trugen Placebo einen ganz besonderen Song bei: eine Coverversion des T. Rex-Klassikers 20th Century Boy.
- Pure Morning. Pure Morning war eine weitere Single-Auskopplung aus dem zweiten Placebo-Album Without You I’m Nothing und einer der großen Hits der Platte.

- Black-Eyed. „I’m forever black-eyed, a product of a broken home. “ Es liegt auf der Hand, dass „Black-Eyed“ von einer traumatischen Kindheit handelt. Und Placebo nehmen sich häufig solch düsterer Themen an.
- Every You Every Me. Das sexuell aufgeladene „Every You Every Me“ ist bis heute einer der bekanntesten Songs der Band. Fun fact: Die Single erreichte damals nur Platz 99 in den deutschen Charts.
- For What It’s Worth. Bei „Battle For The Sun“ waren Placebo schon lange nicht mehr die spannenden Newcomer, sondern eine etablierte Band. Trotzdem gab es immer wieder weitere Hits, beispielsweise „For What It’s Worth“.
- Loud Like Love. „Loud Like Love“ ist der Titeltrack des Albums von 2013, das nicht vollständig überzeugen konnte. Für unsere Top-15-Liste hat es hier aber immerhin gereicht.
