Al Cohn (November 24, 1925 – February 15, 1988) was an American jazz saxophonist, arranger and composer. He came to prominence in the band of clarinetist Woody Herman and was known for his longtime musical partnership with fellow saxophonist Zoot Sims .
The Compositions of Al Cohn is a 10" LP by jazz musician Miles Davis, recorded on February 19, 1953 and released later that year on Prestige, his third album as leader for the label, and fourth altogether, following 1952's Young Man with a Horn for Blue Note. [2] [3] [4] [5]

It names Chaloff, Rich, and bassist Jimmy Johnson as sidemen. Cohn and Sims reunited in the mid-fifties and worked extensively at the Half Note on Hudson Street in New York City’s West Village.
