McGuinn, Clark & Hillman were an American rock group consisting of Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, and Chris Hillman, who were all former members of the band the Byrds. The group formed in 1977 and was partly modeled after Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and, to a lesser extent, the Eagles.
In Los Angeles hatten sich die hochtalentierten Musiker David Crosby, Gene Clark und Roger McGuinn zu den Beefeaters zusammengefunden. 1964 beschloss man, eine Rhythmusgruppe hinzuzufügen. Ausgewählt wurden Michael Clarke als Drummer und Chris Hillman als Bassist.

After an early 1977 UK tour reunited him with Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark, the trio stayed together as McGuinn, Clark & Hillman for two albums (on which Hillman continued his songwriting collaboration with Knobler) and one under the McGuinn-Hillman name, with a hit single in 1979's "Don't You Write Her Off".
In Time Between, Hillman vividly recounts the groundbreaking years when he joined Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Gene Clark and Michael Clarke to form The Byrds, creating one of the most influential bands in the history of rock music. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
