Gerald Anthony Scarfe, CBE (* 1. Juni 1936 in London) ist ein englischer Karikaturist, Illustrator, Zeichner, Schöpfer von Animationsfilmen und Bühnenbildner. Außerdem schuf er Skulpturen und entwarf Kostüme.
Gerald Scarfe was born in London in 1936. At the age of one he developed chronic asthma and was bedridden for long periods of his childhood, finding solace in drawing: a way of communicating and exorcising his fears and anxieties.

Gerald Scarfe was born on 1 June 1936 in St John's Wood, London, the son of Reginald Scarfe, a City banker, and his wife Dorothy, a teacher. As a child Scarfe suffered severely from asthma, and spent a lot of time in bed, being frequently in hospital - "a very lonely childhood" he recalled.

For most of his first 19 years Scarfe was bedridden with chronic asthma, and he began to draw during these long periods of confinement.
Er war ein brillanter Künstler. Ich hatte das Privileg für Zeitschriften zu arbeiten, in denen auch Sokols Werke erschienen – für den Punch und den New Yorker. Persönlich lernte ich den Karikaturisten leider nicht kennen, aber seine Arbeit spricht für sich.
