Great Neck ist ein Village in der Town North Hempstead im US-Bundesstaat New York mit 9.989 Einwohnern . Es liegt in einem Gebiet von Sommerwohnsitzen entlang des Great-Neck-Kaps an der Nordküste von Long Island. Aufgrund seiner frühen Besiedlung um 1644 ist es auch als Old Village bekannt, 1922 wurde es eingemeindet.[1]
Great Neck, village, in the town (township) of North Hempstead, Nassau county, New York, U.S. It lies along the Great Neck cape and the north shore of Long Island in an area of summer estates. Settled about 1644, it is known as the “Old Village” and was incorporated in 1922.
The Great Neck peninsula was first settled by Native Americans who supported themselves through hunting, farming and fishing. They lived along the shorelines and established trading relationships with Dutch and English explorers. When the European visitors colonized the peninsula they brought African slaves in order to clear and farm the land.
