Most folks know that story - how Jerry Jeff moved to Austin, Texas in the early Seventies and reinvented himself as a Lone Star country-rocker. He became, along with Willie Nelson and Asleep At The Wheel, one of the arbiters of the internationally famous Austin musical community.
20. Nov. 2022 · He was the son of Melvin R. Crosby and Alma (Conrow) Crosby. In a career that spanned roughly fifty-five years, Walker released more than thirty-five albums, composed songs that included his international classic, “Mr. Bojangles,” and maintained a rigorous touring schedule.
Jerry Jeff Walker, the hard-living New York native who became an icon of Texas music, has died at 78. Walker passed away on Friday, October 23, due to complications from throat cancer. He was at his home in Austin until an hour before passing away at Dell Seton Medical Center.
