Nauru [nɑːˈuːruː] (nauruisch Ripublik Naoero, auch Ripubrikin Naoero, englisch Republic of Nauru) ist ein Inselstaat im Pazifischen Ozean mit 11.550 Einwohnern (Stand 2019). Nauru ist nach Fläche der drittkleinste und nach Einwohnerzahl der dritt- oder viertkleinste anerkannte Staat sowie die kleinste Republik der Erde.
Nauru liegt mitten im südlichen Pazifik, 42 km südlich des Äquators. Die Länge der Küste zum Pazifik beträgt rund 30 km. Die höchste Erhebung der Insel ist 61 m hoch und wird Command Ridge genannt. Die nächste Nachbarinsel ist Banaba, die zu Kiribati gehört und 305 km östlich von Nauru liegt.
