Dallas is a large city in the northern part of the U.S. state of Texas. It is a part of a much larger group of cities called the Metroplex, along with important cities like Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prarie Denton, Fort Worth, and Plano. The city is the ninth largest in the United States .
In 1903, Oak Cliff, a city across the Trinity River, was annexed. By the turn of the 20th century, Dallas was the leading drug, book, jewelry, and wholesale liquor market in the Southwestern United States. It also quickly became the center of trade in cotton, grain, and even buffalo.
1978 begann die Ausstrahlung der Seifenoper Dallas um eine reiche und intrigante Ölunternehmerfamilie, die über 14 Staffeln bis 1991 lief und eine der meistgesehenen Fernsehserien aller Zeiten wurde.
