Monticello is the largest city in and the county seat of Jasper County, Georgia, United States. The city includes historic buildings such as the Jasper County Courthouse, Monticello High School and the Monticello Historic District. The population was 2,657 at the 2010 census. It is 56 miles (90 km) southeast of Atlanta.

Our History. Monticello was designated county seat of Randolph County on December 10, 1808. Randolph County was renamed Jasper County on December 12, 1812 in honor of a Revolutionary War hero, Sergeant William Jasper. This county was part of Baldwin County until 1807.

With Approximately three thousand residents in the city limits, Monticello has kept its Southern small-town character. On August 8, 1997, the Monticello Historic District was officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
