Bernie Calvert is an English musician who played bass guitar with The Hollies from 1966 to 1981. He also worked with Rickie Shaw and the Dolphins, The Bread and Beer Band, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
Im Jahre 1966 wurde der Bassist Eric Haydock durch Bernie Calvert ersetzt, der ebenfalls schon mit Elliott und Hicks bei The Dolphins gespielt hatte. Der Hollies-Produzent Ron Richards war mit diesem Wechsel nicht sehr zufrieden und kritisierte das Bassspiel von Calvert im Begleitheft zur CD 20 Song Anthology.
28. Sept. 2022 · Bernard Bamford Calvert spielte Anfang der Sechziger Piano bei Rickie Shaw and the Dolphins. Dort hatte er bereits mit Bobby Elliot (dr) und Tony Hicks (g) zu tun. Hicks, der ihm empfahl, an den Viersaiter zu wechseln, holte ihn wenig später zu den Hollies. Erst ersetzte er lediglich den Stammbassisten Eric Haydock auf.
