John E. Carter (June 2, 1934 – August 21, 2009) was an American doo-wop and R&B singer. He was a founding member of The Flamingos and a member of The Dells. Both groups have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, making Carter one of the few multiple inductees.

Born: 2nd June 1934 Chicago, Illinois, USA. Died: 21st August 2009 Harvey, Illinois, USA. American singer. Founding member of the doo-wop group The Flamingos which he left in 1960 to join the Dells, a quintet formed by some of his high school friends from Harvey.
Johnny Carter died of cancer on August 21, 2009, at the age of 75. Carter is one of the few artists to be a double Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, having been inducted with The Flamingos in 2001, and the Dells in 2004.
