Nov. 2013 · Shortly thereafter Cropper and Dunn joined Levon Helm’s RCO All-Stars and then received a call from John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd which resulted in the formation of the Blues Brothers Band. The original incarnation of the Blues Brothers recorded three albums, including the number one Briefcase Full of Blues , and made a hilarious eponymously-titled feature film.
Jackson, whom Cropper called "the greatest drummer to ever walk the Earth," was murdered in his Memphis home before the group could make their comeback. In 1978, Cropper and Dunn became members of Levon Helm's RCO All-Stars and then went on to figure prominently in the Blues Brothers Band with drummer Willie Hall.

With the breakup of the Band in its original form, Helm began working on a solo-ensemble album, Levon Helm & the RCO All-Stars, with Paul Butterfield, Fred Carter, Jr., Emmeretta Marks, Howard Johnson, Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Booker T. Jones, and others.

24. März 2021 · Helm got together some of his favourite musicians such as three quarters of Booker T & The MG’s – Booker T Jones on keyboards, Steve Cropper on guitar and Donald “Duck” Dunn on bass. Drummer Al Jackson had been shot dead in 1975 although he wouldn’t have been needed as drumming duties were of course carried out by Helm ...
In the 1970s and '80s, Steve Cropper recorded and toured with Levon Helm and the Blues Brothers. He moved to Nashville in 1988 and eventually founded his own recording studio and record label. Along with the other MGs, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
