Walter Afanasieff (* 10. Februar 1958 in São Paulo , Brasilien ) ist ein US-amerikanischer Musikproduzent und Songwriter der ASCAP . Er produzierte einige der meistverkauften Balladen aller Zeiten (z. B. den Titelsong zum Film Titanic , My Heart Will Go On ) und wurde dafür mehrfach mit Grammy Awards ausgezeichnet.
Afanasieff was also the producer and arranger for "Go the Distance", the Oscar-nominated Michael Bolton song from the animated film Hercules. Afanasieff performs on most of his recordings (mainly keyboards, synthesizers and drum programming). Afanasieff created music with Mariah Carey from 1990 to 2001.
