Hispania ( Ancient Greek: Ἱσπανία, romanized : Hispanía; Latin: Hispānia [hɪsˈpaːnia]; nearly identically pronounced in Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan as [isˈpanja]) was the Roman name for the Iberian Peninsula and its provinces.
