v. t. e. Second-wave feminism started in the 1960s in the United States. It lasted for roughly two decades. During first-wave feminism, women wanted to get the right to vote in elections and to be treated equally to men when it comes to owning and inheriting property.
Die zweite Welle der Frauenbewegung entstand in den 1960er Jahren als Kritik an der massiven Diskriminierung von Frauen, besonders von Müttern. Der Nachholbedarf bei der Gleichstellung der Frau fand allmählich staatliche Anerkennung, so z. B. bei der UNO, die 1975 zum Internationalen Jahr der Frau erklärte.
