NASAMS is the world´s first operational Network Centric Ground Based Air Defence System and is delivered or under production for 15 nations. KONGSBERG/raytheon offers a fielded and proven NASAMS Air Defence System with the capability to protect several areas and high-value assets separated bu large distances.
NASAMS ( National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, also known as Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System [5]) is a distributed and networked short- to medium-range [6] : 4 ground-based air defense system developed by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) and Raytheon. [7] .
A total of fifteen (15) nations have acquired the KONGSBERG command and control solution adapted to their requirements. The most recent capabilities, demonstrating NASAMS path of evolution, are the AMRAAM Extended Range missile (AMRAAM ER) and the AIM-9X-2.

The purpose of the NASAMS Multi-Missile Launcher is to transport, support and launch the Raytheon Family of Missiles; AIM-120 AMRAAM, AMRAAN ER and AIM 9X Sidewinder Block II missiles with different characteristics, all mounted on the same launch rail inside the protective canisters.

Jan. 2024 · The Norwegian government has ordered new NASAMS air defence systems from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG), which will strengthen the country’s defence capabilities to combat aerial threats. The contract has a value of approximately NOK 1.4 billion, with expected deliveries in 2026-2027. 31 Jan 2024.
The EO sensor provides the NASAMS FDC operator with a live video and an electro optical/infrared (IR) picture, and has a laser range finder. The EO sensor is installed on a lightweight terrain vehicle. The sensor package is actively stabilized in use and is highly manoeuvrable, flexible and easy to deploy and maintain.
Flexible Architecture. In partnership with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, NASAMS is built on a modular, distributed, open-hardware and software architecture. The system is positioned to embrace new technologies, capabilities and features to deliver unrivaled air defense. NASAMS is a highly adaptable combat-proven medium-range air defense solution.
