Figures
are physical toys that represent characters in the game. Placing a figure on the Infinity Base brings that character into the game.
Figure Compatibility Guide: As of the release of Disney Infinity 3.0 - All Figures may be used in the Toy Box of the edition of Disney Infinity they were released for, and subsequent editions. All figures are forward compatible, but no figures are backwards compatible.
Some figures may also be used in specific Play Sets.
A figure's packaging will indicate what edition of Disney Infinity it was released for, and any Play Sets it is compatible with.
Figures can be leveled up by playing through Play Sets and completing missions. Leveling data is saved to the figure, so if it's brought to a friend's house it will retain its level in their game.
When using a figure straight out of the package, the game will automatically take ownership of the figure for whomever's profile is currently loaded. If the figure is then later placed on an Infinity Base under a different profile (at a friend's house for instance), this figure will appear on the screen as "Guest." If left as a Guest, the figure will continue to level up and, once placed in its original profile, the increased level will sync with the game data/profile save. However, ownership of the figure can also be taken in another Infinity game via the Start menu. This is especially helpful for families since they can share a set of figures between family members with different profiles/IDs and progress each figure and Hall of Heroes separately. An example would one person has ownership of a level 10 Violet figure, if that person were to take it to a friends house, they could take ownership and reach level 5 with Violet. If the original owner were to take their Violet figure home and take ownership back she would go back to level 10. If ownership was not taken at the friend's house, the character would reach level 15 once placed on your original Infinity base.
In Infinity 2.0, the "take ownership" option is replaced with "share ownership", which adds the figure to the player's account and collection but does not reset the figure's level. Also, if a new base is purchased when buying Infinity 2.0 or upgrading to a next-gen version, figures used on the previous base may be detected as a change of ownership.
New abilities become available as the Figures level up. In Infinity 1.0, the ability gained at each level is fixed, and the max level for a figure is fifteen. In Infinity 2.0, the ability gained at each level can be chosen from the Skill Tree, and the max level for a figure is twenty.
Each time a figure is leveled up in Infinity 1.0, it will give the player a spin in the Toy Box Vault, meaning that each figure can give someone a total of 15 spins when maxed out. With the three figures included in the Starter Pack, a person can earn a total of 45 spins once all have reached the level cap. In Infinity 2.0, the Toy Store can be accessed any time and toys are bought with Sparks; it is not necessary to level up figures to unlock new toys.
If a figure which has gained levels in Infinity 1.0 is loaded in Infinity 2.0, it will immediately gain the appropriate number of points to spend on the figure's Skill Tree. If a figure which has gained levels in Infinity 2.0 is returned to Infinity 1.0, spins are not granted for the levels gained in 2.0.
While playing the game, Figures can be swapped in and out at any time. One figure can continue a mission started by a different figure. Just lift the figure off the Infinity Base and put the new figure on. However characters that do not belong to a certain playset cannot be put into the game instantly. For example, Sulley cannot enter the Incredibles Play Set to bash Omnidroids. Also, coins (or sparks, in 2.0) that are collected by a certain character will carry over to the new figure.
In Infinity 2.0 play sets, when a figure is defeated, it must be swapped out. If it is not swapped out, the player can continue with the same figure by returning to a previous checkpoint. After a period of time has passed the defeated figure may be swapped back in. Figures defeated in the Toy Box do not need to swap out.
For collectors that like to keep their figures in the original packaging, the Infinity USB pad can read the character's information through the box.
