Ilene Chaiken, née le 30 juin 1957 à Elkins Park, est la créatrice, scénariste et réalisatrice de la série lesbienne, The L Word. Elle est une vétérane de la télévision américaine. Elle a écrit plusieurs scénarios de téléfilms dont Barb Wire en 1996, Dirty Pictures en 2000 et Damaged Case en 2002.
Idee und Produktion. Die Serienidee stammt von der US-amerikanischen Autorin und Produzentin der Serie, Ilene Chaiken ( Barb Wire, Der Prinz von Bel-Air ). Weitere Produzenten waren u. a. Steve Golin ( Being John Malkovich, Vergiss mein nicht!) und Larry Kennar ( Barbershop ).
The premise originated with Ilene Chaiken, Michele Abbott and Kathy Greenberg; Chaiken is credited as the primary creator of the series and also served as its executive producer. The L Word featured television's first ensemble cast of lesbian and bisexual female characters, and its portrayal of lesbianism was groundbreaking at the time.
