John Stuart Robertson (June 14, 1878 – November 5, 1964) was a Canadian born actor and later film director perhaps best known for his 1920 screen adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, starring John Barrymore.
The Single Standard is a 1929 American synchronized sound romantic drama film from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer directed by veteran John S. Robertson and starring Greta Garbo, Nils Asther and Johnny Mack Brown. The film has no audible dialogue but featured a synchronized musical score and sound effects.
John S. Robertson was born on 14 June 1878 in London, Ontario, Canada. He was a director and actor, known for The Girl of Today (1918), The Fighting Blade (1923) and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920). He was married to Josephine Lovett. He died on 5 November 1964 in Escondido, California, USA.
