The Village of Menands takes its name from Louis Menand, a prominent 19th century Horticulturist who was born in France on August 2nd 1807 and immigrated to America in 1837.

Louis Menand House is a historic home located at Menands, New York in Albany County, New York. It is a two-story, Queen Anne style farmhouse with a cross-gable roof and central chimney. The rear section was built about 1840 and the front section in 1881.
