Cold Comfort Farm is a comic novel by English author Stella Gibbons, published in 1932. It parodies the romanticised, sometimes doom-laden accounts of rural life popular at the time, by writers such as Mary Webb.
Stella Dorothea Gibbons, 1902 in London geboren, besuchte die North London Collegiate School und studierte Journalismus am University College London. Sie arbeitete für diverse Zeitungen und Zeitschriften, bevor sie sich ganz dem Schreiben von Büchern widmete. Ihre erste Veröffentlichung im Jahr 1930 war eine Gedichtsammlung, "The Mountain Beast".
