Szolnok [ˈsolnok] (deutsch Sollnock) ist eine ungarische Stadt im gleichnamigen Kreis. Es ist der Sitz des Komitats Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok und hat selbst die Rechte eines Komitats . Die Stadt hat 71.765 Einwohner (Stand 2017), von denen 33.100 katholisch und 35.589 konfessionslos sind.
Szolnok (Hungarian pronunciation:; also known by alternative names) is the county seat of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county in central Hungary. A city with county rights , it is located on the banks of the Tisza river, in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain , which has made it an important cultural and economic crossroads for centuries.
Szolnok 1918-tól 1956-ig[szerkesztés] A rommá lőtt szolnoki vártemplom 1919-ben, a román támadás után. A Monarchia bukásával és az ország több részre szakadásával gyakorlatilag minden megváltozott. 1919 májusában hosszú és elkeseredett harc folyt a Tisza vonaláig benyomult román sereg és a vörös hadsereg között.
