7. Mai 2024 · There are 233 countries (not including formable nations) in the game, 83 of which appear at the 1936 start. Each country belongs to one of four political Ideologies, which can change over a game, though there are in most cases no ways to increase the Non-Aligned ideology without modding.
France, UK, USA, Germany, USSR, Japan and Italy and any successor state they can form are considered majors by default, no matter what's their state and actual power. Even if you puppet italy in the libyan desert alone, it'll remain a major. Beyond that, within a faction, the leader is a major.
Even without a good focus tree, Italy has an extremely good start, as they can join Germany immediately and take out the Netherlands and other minor countries before the war actually starts. You can also form Rome very early, as some people can easily do it before 1940, with I think one person doing in 1937 if I'm not mistaken.
Formable nations are special nations that do not exist in the 1936 or 1939 starting dates but can be formed either through a decision or through other means enacted by certain nations - provided they fulfill the needed requirements.
Originally, I thought that the major powers were just the big 7 (US, UK, USSR, Germany, Italy, Japan, France), later thought China, India, and Poland got added to this list. Now Brazil, Sweden, Australia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Estonia are all also major powers in my current game...
3. Juli 2020 · Major powers refer to ones with the highest number of factories, within the top 7 or 70% of the average of the top 7, updated monthly. Countries cannot lose their major status while at war. Faction leaders are also considered major countries.
29. Jan. 2024 · The main way most countries become majors in HOI4 is by building or stealing enough factories to rival the ones of Germany, Italy, Japan, France, the USSR, the USA, and the UK. If they manage to surpass the factory count of one of these countries, they immediately become major powers.
